Antihistamines are tablets to treat allergic symptoms such as hives watery eyes, rash and itching. Anti histamine drugs can be purchased over the counter. Even anxiety, insomnia and motion sickness can be treated by these tablets. You can take these tablets with food or milk and it is also advised to have the capsule as a whole because crushing or chewing can cause side effects.

While using these drugs there can be some side effects such as drowsiness dizziness, stomach upset and vision changes. These side effects are common at the time of taking these drugs and when the body gets used to the medication the effects are no longer there. But if you face problems like irregular heart beat, difficulty in urination and breathing difficulties then it is advised to consult doctor.

So before taking any antihistamine medicine consult your doctor and it is also necessary if you prior had any problem such as enlarged prostate, heart disease, glaucoma and high blood pressure. While taking this medicine be careful in activities which need alertness. Like after taking this medicine you should never drive.And it is also necessary to avoid alcohol when taking this medicine.

Without doctors consultation do give anti histamines to your kid younger than six years. During pregnancy this drug is restricted. There are some symptoms related to over dose of these drugs in children such as dry mouth, fever, agitation and restlessness. So it is advised to use antihistamines with doctor’s consultation.
